    Hello DRI Annual Meeting Attendees,

Here’s wishing you safe travels to Chicago for what will be an outstanding Annual Meeting.  As is our tradition, the Northeast Region will have its regional meeting on Wednesday night, October 4, 2017 at SPiN Chicago, 344 N. State Street, from 7:30pm to 10:30PM (or whenever).  SPiN is a short walk from the hotel.  For those of you who have not had the pleasure, expect plenty of food, drinks and, wait for it … , ping pong.  Dick Tucker just returned from a playing tour in China and will take on all comers.  Please join Dick and me for the fun and festivities.

The ABA’s Commission on the Future of Legal Services has published a report on alternate business structures for law firms, which if adopted by the ABA, would permit non-lawyer ownership of law firms. The adoption of such business structures would have a critical impact on the future of the profession and the manner in which we practice law.

TDLA and DRI are asking you to express your opinions on the viability of such structures and the manner in which they will affect our collective future.

The Commission is calling for comments on their report; the deadline, however, is extremely tight with all commentary due by Monday, May 2nd.

We encourage you to review the entire document here at your first opportunity so you can become familiar with its contents and  ask that you contact the Commission and express your views on the report.  Your participation is needed to ensure a fully vetted process.  Commentary on the report from the ABA’s Commission on the Future of Legal Services should be sent to the following address:
    Katy Englehart
    American Bar Association
    Office of the President
    321 N. Clark Street
